Barron Lake Triathlon & 5k

From 8:00AM to 12:30PM

Please join us on August 29th, 2015 for the 2nd annual Barron Lake Tri & 5k! We have many different events to suite any fitness level and a fantastic post-race cookout for all who participate! Racing events include both Olympic and Sprint distances with relay options available, a 5k Run/Walk, and kids triathlon! Don’t feel like getting sweaty but still want to have a fun time? No problem! The Barron Lake Tri & 5k is also currently looking for volunteers to help make race day a smashing success! Want to add a little more fun to you race day experience? Join the Tortoise & Hare Team Challenge with your friends and help raise money for Michiana’s special needs kids! Multi Vendor Event!

From 9:00AM to 2:00PM

Join us for our 6th annual vendor event! We have over 20 vendors to help you get gifts for everyone on your Christmas list! The event takes place at the St. Joseph County 4-H Fairgrounds at 5117 Ironwood Rd. South Bend IN 46714. Enter through gate 2 on Ironwood Rd. & the event is on the first building on the left. Be sure to bring a nonperishable food items or an unwrapped children

ALL in for Gabe Silent Auction Night

Silent auction, raffle prizes, 50/50, t-shirts for sale, and more! The funds raised through this event will help cover Gabe's medical expenses, but the timing also happens to be pretty perfect - Gabe will turn two years old on August 25th, and what better way to help him celebrate? Excel Center Enrollment Open Now

Applications are now being accepted for The Excel Center’s inaugural class. The Excel Center is a tuition free high school for adults offering students 18 years and older an opportunity to earn an Indiana Core 40 high school diploma. Those interested can apply online at: www.ExcelCenterHS.org. The application is free and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Prospective students will receive notification as to the status of their application within 7 to 10 business days. There are 300 positions available and students will be selected through a lottery process for enrollment. Those who are not selected initially will be placed on a wait list for future openings.

ElkhartWoood Community Tree Planting

Applications are now being accepted for the October 2015 ElkhartWood Community Tree Planting Program. The program supports community tree planting projects in the Elkhart area on public and community spaces. Selected projects will receive up to 15 trees, technical assistance and education that includes proper planting and care of trees. Tree planting events will be scheduled during October. Through a partnership with NIPSCO, the ElkhartWood program will be expanding to include one community tree planting project on community owned space in addition to one project on public land. Projects for community spaces must be customers of NIPSCO. ElkhartWood is an exciting, community-driven program that connects the Elkhart community to the city forest. The program is a partnership between the City of Elkhart Forestry Division, the Elkhart Environmental Center (EEC), and the ElkhartWood Products Network.
